Shopper Scam Warning

Dear shoppers,

The mystery shopping industry has been targeted by scammers in recent times due to the popularity and strong growth in this service sector. Mystery Customer would like to warn those of you who are not aware of the scam to be careful when applying for jobs with a new mystery shopping company.

Here is a short article in the local newspaper dated 16/06/2010:

KU-RING-GAI police are warning residents of a mystery shopper campaign scam. Police said residents responding to a newspaper ad were sent traveller’s cheques in the mail and asked to cash them at a money exchange. They were then asked to send a portion of the cash to an address in London. Police said the traveller’s cheques were fraudulent.
